Day 1 Chianti – San Gimignano
This morning you will depart for the Chianti region of Italy and home to Chianti Classico, the most popular Italian wine in the world.
Travelling along the famous wine route “Chiantigiana”, you will wind through the vineyards and olive groves and the wonderful villages of the Chianti countryside.
You will begin your exploration of Tuscan cuisine with a guided tour of the wine cellars of a family managed farmhouse and discover the secrets of traditional Tuscan recipes and much more by taking part in a Cooking Class.
The house specialty is famous fresh pappardelle, tagliatelle and tagliolini pasta, Maremma region style ravioli (stuffed with fresh ricotta and herbs), and potato gnocchi seasoned with traditional sauces. You will also get to prepare special breads, in addition to pizzas and ciaccini (a very special kind of bread pasta).
All this will be tasted with different varieties of pecorino and salami and accompanied by wonderful Chianti Classico wines. Each recipe will be matched with one of the estate’s selections of prestigious wines, included a typical aperitivo.
At last, you will visit a local winery in the hill-top town of San Gimignano. The amazing towers of San Gimignano make it a truly unique and special place in Tuscany. Relax and enjoy a superb wine tasting of Vernaccia, one of the most re-known Italian white wine.
Day 2 Montepulciano – Pienza – Montalcino
Today, Wine Tasting of the most prestigious Tuscan wines. First stop is Montepulciano, a former Roman Settlement, high atop “Mons Politianus” owes its present appearance to both the middle ages and the Renaissance, evidenced by the numerous churches and palaces built by Michelozzo and Antonio da Sangallo. Enjoy tasting the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano at centuries-old wine cellar a local winery and visit the historical center of the town.
Pienza, rebuilt by Bernardo Rossellino at the request of Pope Pius II (Enea Silvio Piccolomini) to be the ideal Renaissance town, and famous for its perfect illuminate architecture and, of course, pecorino cheese is your next stop. Here you will enjoy a lunch of pecorino cheese and other local favorites.
After lunch, continue on to Montalcino, where you will learning the working methods that produce the world-famous Brunello wine and taste wine made by a local winery. Spend some time enjoying the scenery and visiting the 14th century fortress, where you will discover the “secrets” of the village.
Day 3 San Miniato – Vinci
What is a Truffle and what a Truffle taste like. Today, a unique experience Hunting Truffles in the woods around San Miniato hills with the help a local hunter and his truffle hunting trained dog, you will get the chance to taste this hard-to-find seasonal underground mushroom, which on the fresh market is offered for thousands Euros a pound. While enjoying a tasty Truffle based lunch, you will learn some options of Truffle use in Italian cuisine.
The last stop is Vince, land of Leonardo Da Vinci, where taste the olive oil produced by a famous manufacturer of extra virgin olive oil and learn the methods of processing high quality oil.
