Tourist Tax in Italy
In many European travel destinations, local administrations have introduced a Tourist Tax (Tassa di Soggiorno). This is a tax that no-residents are requested to pay for each overnight stay in those destinations. This tax is due locally and it is collected by the lodger (Hotels, bed and breakfasts, hostels, apartment rentals, campsites…) and has variable costs depending on the municipality and level of comfort of the lodging. The following is a short list of Tourist Taxes for the most popular Italy destinations when staying in Hotels.
