This itinerary extending from the center to the Arno River, is specifically designed to inspire and entertain families with children and young teenager on board. The relatively short walk and inclusion of break in a homemade gelato and cappuccino shop will further enhance the enjoyable experience of this tour.

After an inspiring walk through the unique Old Bridge, where for centuries housed shops and traders and more recently workshops of the famous Florentine Gold Jewelry, you will reach Palazzo Davanzati. This home represents the architectural transition of style from 13th century medieval tower house to Renaissance palace and offers a remarkably accurate portrayal of the intimate domestic life of that time.

Next is Piazza della Signoria, the center of Florentine civic life. Without question, this is one of the most elegant and culturally rich place in all of Italy, if not the world. Some of history’s most famous buildings form the borders of this remarkable outdoor museum; Palazzo Vecchio: the seat of the Republican government; the Loggia de Lanzi, which gives shelter to Cellini’s bronze masterpiece, Perseus with the Head of Medusa, and 14 other important works; Palazzo degli Uguccione; and the Tribunale della Mercanzia, the court where merchants of Florence settled trade disputes.

Florence Family Walk Tour 2The tour ends at the most characteristic Florentine farmer’s market near by and a beautiful carousel, which includes king’s carriages, run by the same family for 5 generations.
